Ellen DeGeneres is 'MOTHER NATURE' in Walden Media's Upcoming Original Film

Posted on: Wednesday, 18 March 2009, 05:00 CDT

LOS ANGELES, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Superstar Ellen DeGeneres, Emmy award winning talk show host and comedienne, has signed on to play MOTHER NATURE in an upcoming comedy produced by Walden Media and based on an internally generated original concept.

Ellen DeGeneres stars as MOTHER NATURE, who makes her grand return to earth for the first time since the planet's creation. Project is being written by Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winner Jenny Bicks (Creator and Executive Producer of MEN IN TREES and Writer and Executive Producer of SEX IN THE CITY).

Says DeGeneres: "I'm so excited to be playing Mother Nature. I've always wanted to control the weather. Nothing will stop me from doing this...neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet...I may be thinking of the postal service. But, I'm really excited about the movie."

"We are thrilled to be working with such a beloved entertainer. The project is designed to capitalize on Ellen's unique voice, her skills as a physical comedienne, and her ability to connect with an audience," Michael Bostick, Walden Media CEO.

Walden is looking to fast track the project for an anticipated production period this summer in Los Angeles during the talk show host's hiatus.

Michael Bostick will oversee the project with VP of Development & Production Evan Turner for Walden Media.
