Oprah puppy in stable condition
A puppy adopted by U.S. TV talk show host Oprah Winfrey is in stable condition after being treated for parvovirus, a Harpo Productions official says.
An unidentified spokesman for Winfrey's production company said the TV star's 13-week-old cocker spaniel, Sadie, is doing well after receiving treatment for the same virus that apparently killed Winfrey's other adopted cocker spaniel, Ivan, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.
Winfrey, star of
The Oprah Winfrey Show, adopted both dogs from PAWS Chicago this month.
The TV star said on her program Friday the loss of Ivan and Sadie's illness has been emotionally draining.
I went through it all, Winfrey said, referring to the parvovirus struggles.
You can't get it. If you could get it, I would have it.
A veterinarian, Dr. Alexis Newman, says Winfrey's surviving dog is nearly 80 percent recovered, People.com reported.
