Philip L. Graham Fund Gives $100,000 to the Foundation for the National Archives

Grant Made in Honor of Retired Washington Post Company Executive Patrick Butler

WASHINGTON, March 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Philip L. Graham Fund awarded an unrestricted grant of $100,000 to the Foundation for the National Archives to strengthen the Foundation's organizational capacity. The grant was awarded in honor of Foundation board member Patrick Butler, who recently retired as senior vice president of the Washington Post Company.

The grant will enable the Foundation to expand its retail operations, including its museum shop, which provides the Foundation with vital revenue that goes directly to supporting educational initiatives at the National Archives.

The grant is designed to enhance the Foundation's revenue potential in support of the Foundation's long-term mission to educate, enrich, and inspire a deeper appreciation of our national heritage through the collected historical evidence held in trust for the nation by the National Archives.

The Graham Fund first supported the Foundation in 2004 with a $100,000 grant to support the development of the National Archives Experience Learning Center and its ongoing educational activities offered to Washington residents and visitors from around the world.
