Mobile Version of 'Bejeweled Twist(TM)' Coming First to Verizon Wireless

Latest Installment in PopCap Games' Flagship Franchise Available Exclusively on Verizon Wireless Phones on April 8

LAS VEGAS, SEATTLE and BASKING RIDGE, N.J., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- From CTIA WIRELESS 2009(R), Verizon Wireless, the nation's leading wireless service provider, and PopCap Games, the leading developer and publisher of casual games, today announced the mobile version of PopCap's highly acclaimed "Bejeweled Twist(TM)" game will initially be available exclusively on Verizon Wireless phones beginning next week.

PopCap's fourth in-house title for mobile -- and the first new "Bejeweled(R)" title in more than three years -- "Bejeweled Twist" puts a completely new spin on the top-selling puzzle franchise of the 21st century. Since its launch on the PC last year, "Bejeweled Twist" has been a top-seller at retail and has garnered glowing critiques from media outlets of all kinds.

Featuring a revolutionary new style of play and the highest production values of any casual game ever created, "Bejeweled Twist" removes the barriers of traditional match-three games. Instead of swapping adjacent jewels to make a set, players rotate an entire 2 x 2 block of gems clockwise in an effort to create a line of three or more gems of the same type. Additionally, players don't have to make a match with every move -- they can freely rotate gems anywhere on the board, allowing far greater liberty of movement and vastly increased strategic freedom to plan combinations, cascades and chains.

Beyond the completely different method of moving gems, "Bejeweled Twist" provides a wealth of new power-ups and obstacles. New gem types include Flame, Lightning and Fruit gems that produce firey explosions and other powerful effects; and new obstacles such as Bomb and Locked gems as well as Coal will challenge players as never before. In addition, four game modes (Classic, Blitz, Challenge and Zen) offer vastly different ways to experience "Bejeweled Twist." The game will also offer touch support on compatible Verizon Wireless touch screen phones.

Verizon Wireless customers will be able to purchase "Bejeweled Twist" on April 8 in the What's New, Verizon Exclusives, and Puzzle/Word categories in the Media Center or Get It Now(R) virtual store for a $6.99 unlimited use purchase or a $3.49 monthly subscription. "Bejeweled Twist" will be available on a number of popular Verizon Wireless phones, including the LG Dare(TM), enV2(TM) by LG, Samsung Renown(TM) and Samsung Sway(TM). Download charges vary and airtime or megabyte charges may apply when downloading and using certain applications. Customers need a Media Center or Get It Now-enabled handset and Verizon Wireless digital service to access the Get It Now virtual store.
