First-Ever Chinese Drywall Litigation Conference Set for June 4-5 in Orlando, FL

Posted on: Thursday, 9 April 2009, 15:05 CDT

SPRINGFIELD, Pa., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- HarrisMartin Publishing, a premier provider of legal news and continuing legal education conferences, announced today that it will host the nation's first-ever Chinese Drywall Litigation Conference, June 4 and 5 at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes hotel in Orlando, Fla.

The conference was announced on the company's web site at www.harrismartin.com.

Dozens of drywall lawsuits have already been filed in courts nationwide against major homebuilders and drywall distributors located in the U.S., Germany and China. These cases allege that fly ash incorporated into the manufacturing process of some drywall products leach sulphuric gases that can dissolve copper pipes, electrical wiring and air conditioner heating elements and pose a threat to residents' health.

According to the lawsuits, contaminated drywall panels may have been installed in tens of thousands of homes across the country since 2004. And, while this litigation is in its infancy, a panel of federal judges is already considering the creation of a consolidated multi-district court docket to handle the expected flood of claims.

HarrisMartin's Chinese Drywall Litigation Conference brings together balanced, expert panels of plaintiff and defense counsel and scientists for a day-and-a-half discussion of the complex issues associated with these cases, including challenges of suing foreign defendants, causation and the latest science and expert opinions, multi-party construction litigation issues and class actions, settlement approaches, the economic loss rule, building code issues, insurance coverage considerations and much more.

To register, or to learn more about this conference, visit the HarrisMartin web site at www.harrismartin.com, or call (800) 496-4319. HarrisMartin is also offering a $100 discount to those who register for the conference before May 1.
