Travel Planning Site GeckoGo.com Joins Forces With Award Winning Travel Guide Publisher Bradt Travel Guides

Posted on: Wednesday, 15 April 2009, 05:03 CDT

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- GeckoGo, a travel planning web site for independent travelers (http://www.geckogo.com) has partnered with the UK based award-winning publisher Bradt Travel Guides to exclusively integrate Bradt's guidebook content into GeckoGo's platform. GeckoGo will feature full text descriptions on background information such as history and geography on all relevant countries, regular web site articles by Bradt authors, host an "ask the author" area as well as provide special Bradt guidebook offers and competition opportunities to members. Over 60 of Bradt's authors now have profiles on GeckoGo where they can interact directly with the GeckoGo community by posting travel and guidebook updates, communicate with GeckoGo members and more.

"We're thrilled to be in this partnership with Bradt Travel Guides," says Pokin Yeung, co-founder of GeckoGo. "Our vision of the ultimate travel resource is one that takes the shared experiences of travelers worldwide, and builds on top the insight of professional guidebook authors. We have been consistently impressed with the quality of Bradt's guides and with their commitment to sustainable travel. They were the only travel publisher with which we considered a partnership. On a personal note, the partnership also has meaning to the founders as we were inspired to start GeckoGo on a trip to Tanzania in 2006 during which we traveled with Bradt's Tanzania by Philip Briggs."

Bradt's Managing Director, Donald Grieg says, "We've been looking for some time for a travel planning site that we could partner with, so we were delighted when GeckoGo approached us. Our brands are very complementary: we share a love of unusual places and positive travel, and there is strong compatibility between GeckoGo users and Bradt readers. We even share the same brand colours!"

Adds Hilary Bradt: "Bradt Travel Guides came into existence in 1974 through my love of travel and desire to share my experiences. The enthusiasm and enterprise of GeckoGo's young founders remind me of me all those years ago! We are fortunate to have them as our new internet partner."

In celebration of National Volunteer Week, the first Bradt Author article will be "Conservation Volunteering: Przewalski's Horses" (http://blog.geckogo.com/2009/04/peter-lynch-volunteering-przewalski-horses) by Peter Lynch, author of Wildlife & Conservation Volunteering: The Complete Guide.
