New ‘Arthur’ episodes have green theme

Five new episodes of the U.S. animated preschool series Arthur are to debut Earth Day Week to offer kid-friendly tips for going green, WGBH said.

The fresh installments are to begin airing Monday on PBS KIDS GO. The shows offer tips for celebrating Earth Day and promoting sustainability all year long like turning off the water while brushing your teeth, hanging laundry on a clothesline instead of using an electric dryer, turning off indoor lights when no one is using them, cleaning up trash in your yard or neighborhood and eating leftovers so as not to waste food.

Earth Day is a perfect time for kids to learn that they can play a significant role in taking care of our planet, senior producer Jacqui Deegan said in a statement. In keeping with the mission of 'Arthur,' we want to teach kids how their actions can impact the world around them.
