Media Manager Subscribers Can Now Use Any Wireless Handset With a Data Plan to Remotely Control DVR; All FiOS TV Customers Can Now Manage their Verizon DVRs Remotely Online
In January, Verizon first introduced its free remote DVR management service to FiOS TV Media Manager subscribers, who accessed the capability via a Web site (http://www.verizon.com/fiostvcentral) or through select Verizon Wireless handsets. Now Verizon is opening up the online remote-control service to all FiOS TV DVR users.
The company is also providing a new wireless application to FiOS TV Home Media DVR customers that will allow them to use any cell phone to remotely access their DVRs. To access this application, these customers must subscribe to a data plan from Verizon Wireless or any other wireless service provider.
"We've had a tremendous, positive customer response to the freedom, flexibility and control that our remote DVR management service provides," said
The wireless application for Home Media DVR subscribers is available at (http://m.verizon.com/tv). Customers already using the wireless application with Verizon Wireless LG EnV2, LG Chocolate 2, or LG Voyager handsets can still access the remote DVR programming feature as they did before.
A downloadable video overview of the remote DVR management service is available at (http://verizon.mediaseed.tv/Story.aspx?story=36482).
Verizon is the only company in the U.S. to bring 100 percent fiber optics straight to the home, giving customers the ultimate home-upgrade with the fastest broadband, more HD, better TV picture-and-sound quality, and interactive capabilities that cable can't match.
FiOS TV customers benefit from the most advanced DVR technology available. Verizon's Home Media DVR subscribers can record programming in standard- or high-definition that can be watched on up to six other TV sets in the home. This also includes simultaneously viewing up to three separately recorded programs on different TV sets, and the ability to pause recorded programming on one set and continue watching it on another. FiOS TV's Home Media DVR is bundled with Media Manager, a feature that allows customers to access photos and music from their personal computers and play them on their TV or home theater system.
FiOS TV offers a broad collection of programming, with more than 500 all-digital channels, more than 100 HD channels and more than 14,000 monthly VOD titles. FiOS TV's innovative Interactive Media Guide provides next-generation interactive services including news and entertainment widgets, fantasy football applications, casual games, and many other features.
