Aries Appoints Distributor in Japan for Editorial Manager

April 22, 2009

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass., April 22 /PRNewswire/ — Aries Systems Corporation is pleased to announce that it has entered into a multi-year distribution agreement with ATLAS Co. Ltd. Under the terms of the agreement ATLAS will market and support Aries’ Editorial Manager submission and peer review system in Japan.

Editorial Manager is currently deployed to 3,200+ publications, and Japanese scholarly societies have expressed a growing interest in the system for English and local language publishing. The collaboration between Aries and ATLAS will address this need and will enhance the international visibility of Japanese journals.

Based in Tokyo, ATLAS was founded in August 1986 and employs a staff of 100. The company has been a leader in scholarly publishing technology and developed the J-STAGE journal hosting platform under contract to JST. This market position means that ATLAS is ideally positioned to market and support the Editorial Manager system in Japan.

Editorial Manager is particularly attractive to Japanese journals because it is highly configurable and can be deployed in weeks. For example, journals can configure editor roles, article types, manuscript data, reviewer forms, submission questions etc. in real time using the system’s web-based interface. The configuration options also make it possible for ATLAS to translate many user-facing web pages and also to offer a dual language interface.

ATLAS will introduce Editorial Manager at a Tokyo seminar during the week of June 8th 2009. The meeting will be attended by Lyndon Holmes, President of Aries, who commented: “ATLAS has long term commitment to publishing technology and clearly understands the needs of scholarly journals. We are delighted that they have identified Editorial Manager as the best solution for Japanese scholarly journals.” Please contact ATLAS at em-sales@altas.jp to receive a seminar invitation.
