The Beauty of Success: A Pivot Point L.E.O. Award

CHICAGO, April 23 /PRNewswire/ — For beauty professionals, the highest educational honor is a L.E.O. Award presented by Pivot Point International, the worldwide leader in beauty education. For only the second time, six Pivot Point alumni were honored with a L.E.O. Award at the recent America’s Beauty Show in Chicago.

The L.E.O. represents Leadership in the salon industry, Excellence in hair designer education and Outstanding Pivot Point alumnus, while also honoring Pivot Point’s founder and chairman, Leo Passage. The 2009 L.E.O. Awards recipients include:

• Luis Alvarez, Cleveland, OH. As VP-creative and co-owner of the popular Aquage salon products, Alvarez is best known for his incredible hairstyling and photography talents. He has worked with top fashion magazines and supermodels from Naomi Campbell to Linda Evangelista.

• Rohn Hamel, Vice President Global Marketing & Sales, Alberto-Culver, Inc., Melrose Park, IL, credits Pivot Point for teaching him to understand hair textures and to analyze the needs of individuals, leading to an outstanding career with a respected beauty company.

• Dwight Miller, Santa Fe, NM, is respected throughout the beauty world as consultant, marketer, educator and co-founder of V L V T academies. Dwight has done it all–from product development to ad imagery, celebrity hairstyling to creating influential hair trends and systems used worldwide.

• Judy Rambert, Pivot Point’s VP of Education and Research, leads the strategic direction and quality control of educational technology and delivery systems worldwide.

• Barbara Sansone, New York, NY, combines fine artistry with editorial hair and makeup work for magazines and HDTV. Music celebs Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Bono, Sting, Elvis Costello, Lenny Kravitz, Bon Jovi and the Goo Goo Dolls have benefited from her skills.

• Andy Uffels owns an Amsterdam-based salon franchise, academy and agency for hair, makeup and fashion styling. He is often behind the scenes at top Paris and Milan runway shows and has been a global spokesperson for leading hair care products and appliances.
