Posted on: Thursday, 23 April 2009, 08:22 CDT

MORRISTOWN, N.J., April 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The New Jersey Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC/NJ) announced today that it will host an event exploring how business communicators can successfully apply Thomas Edison's innovative and timeless approaches to their work, and help their organizations foster a culture of innovation.

"Innovate Like Edison" will take place on May 6, 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Mayfair in West Orange, NJ. The presenter, Sarah Miller Caldicott, is an innovation expert and co-author of the book Innovate Like Edison: The Success System of America's Greatest Inventor. She also is a descendent of Thomas Edison.

Caldicott will provide insights from her book focusing on the five steps to create an innovation culture in an organization. Drawing on Edison's marketing, public relations and networking techniques, she will also discuss how 21st century professionals can adapt Edison's methods to meet today's business challenges through increased innovation.

For additional inspiration, after the program NJ/IABC members and guests can take a sneak peak of Thomas Edison's newly renovated laboratories at the nearby Edison National Historic Site. This is an exclusive opportunity to tour the facility before it opens to the general public later this year.

The first 50 IABC members to register will receive a free copy of Caldicott's book, Innovate Like Edison: The Success System of America's Greatest Inventor. Caldicott will be available that day to sign copies of her book.

Before the presentation gets underway, attendees can enjoy a continental breakfast while networking with other communication professionals. Ticket prices are $75 for NJ/IABC members, $100 for nonmembers and $50 for students. To register for this event, or for more information, call 973-267-4328 or visit http://nj.iabc.com.
