Third Annual St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival Set to Take Place June 5-6

April 24, 2009

ST. LOUIS, April 24 /PRNewswire/ — The St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival, one of the city’s ‘must attend’ events for adults, will return to historic Forest Park for the third consecutive year. An ideal place to gather with friends over a late spring weekend to enjoy great beer and food from the area’s finest restaurants, this year’s festival has added several new elements worthy of a toast:

  • A beer garden-style atmosphere and new location at the Central Fields near the MUNY
  • A special beer recipe created by a local homebrewer just for festival-goers to enjoy
  • Brewmasters walking the festival grounds to meet with beer drinkers

“We are thrilled that the people of St. Louis and surrounding communities have embraced the festival and have contributed to the event’s resounding success the past two years,” said Jay Cunningham, senior manager, global industry development, Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. “Whether you’re a connoisseur or someone who wants to broaden their knowledge of beer, the festival is the ideal setting for sharing a love of a good brew and honoring all it represents.”

The support of local breweries, including Alandale Brewery, Anheuser-Busch, Augusta Brewery, Morgan Street Brewery, O’Fallon Brewery, Schlafly Beer, Square One Brewery and Griesedieck Brothers Brewery, contributed to the festival’s success. This year Buffalo Brewing Co., Mattingly Brewing Company, Trailhead Brewing Company and The Stable will join the festival.

“Collaborating with other local brewers helps us show the social value of beer by bringing people together in a fun, unpretentious way,” said Dan Kopman, co-founder, Schlafly Beer. “We’re able to showcase the many beer styles St. Louis has to offer and let beer drinkers enjoy a brew they may not have had before.”

Arranged by style, adults 21 and older will be able to choose from more than 60 ales, lagers, specialty beers, hybrid styles and homebrews.

The “Here’s To Beer” campaign focuses on elevating and enhancing the image of beer, as well as driving adults to choose beer over wine and spirits for more occasions. Through the festival, local brewers will be able to share their passion for brewing with each other, honor beer’s place in history and in St. Louis and educate the local and regional community on beer, the alcohol beverage of moderation.

Adults enjoying the festival’s beer samples, live music and delicious cuisine will be happy to know that proceeds from the event benefit the local charity, Lift for Life Gym. This non-profit organization, which relies on private donations to keep its doors open, is dedicated to helping children who live in the city of St. Louis. The money brought in by the festival helps to maintain their after-school programs that give kids a safe, nurturing home away from home.

The taps will flow rain or shine and tickets are currently available online at www.stlbrewfest.com, by calling 1-888-792-2424 and in person at the Anheuser-Busch St. Louis Brewery Tour Center, the Schlafly Tap Room and Schlafly Bottleworks. Only adults, ages 21 or older, are allowed to purchase tickets and attend the festival. Last year’s festival sold out, so adults are encouraged to buy tickets early and can enjoy a discounted rate for advance purchases: April – $25; May – $30; at festival $35.
