Broadway actress Marilyn Cooper, best known for her role in the musical Woman of the Year,
has died in Englewood, N.J., at the age of 74, a friend says.
Actress Virginia Seidel said Cooper used her voice and comedic abilities to win a 1981 Tony Award for her role in the stage musical, The New York Times reported Saturday.
She had a super voice and super comedic timing, and appearing in just a single number in 'Woman of the Year' she became one of the great memories of that show,
Seidel said of Cooper, who died Wednesday night of unspecified causes.
Cooper played Jan Donovan in the musical from John Kander and Fred Ebb that was based on a 1942 film of the same name.
In addition to her best featured actress Tony Award for the comedic role, Cooper received a Drama Desk Award for best actress.
The Times said in addition to her famed Woman
part, Cooper appeared in productions of Mr. Musical,
West Side Story
and Gypsy.
She leaves no immediate survivors.
