Lawyer says Aerosmith to play Maui

Posted on: Sunday, 26 April 2009, 14:32 CDT

The rock group Aerosmith has agreed to play a concert on the Hawaiian island of Maui as part of a class-action lawsuit settlement, a lawyer says.

Attorney Brandee Faria, who helped represent clients suing the Dream On rockers for canceling a sold-out Maui concert, said the rockers have agreed to schedule a new date to make up for the 2007 event, The Honolulu Advertiser reported Saturday.

They are going to do right by the fans and come back and do a concert, Faria said Friday.

The lawsuit alleged Aerosmith canceled the Hawaiian concert on Sept. 27, 2007, in order to perform a more lucrative concert for Toyota car dealers at a Honolulu stadium and a larger concert in Chicago.

Aerosmith has maintained its Chicago performance had made performing the Maui concert five days later a logistically impossibility.

Faria told the Advertiser the lawsuit settlement will include tickets and potential compensation for expenses for those with tickets to the 2007 Maui event.

Everyone who bought a ticket to the original concert will receive a free ticket, and all out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed regardless of the amount, the attorney said.
