NEW YORK, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Dukas Public Relations (DPR) announced that public relations agency veteran Edmund R. Belak Jr. has joined the firm to build and lead its new corporate communications and investor relations practices.

The new investor relations practice will provide comprehensive investor relations services for public and pre-IPO companies. These services will help management communicate the results of business decisions to audiences that purchase, or influence the purchase of, their company's equity or debt.

The corporate communications practice will build, manage and protect the reputations, images and brands of public and private companies; and will develop and implement programs to optimize corporate, product and shareholder value.

"We are thrilled to attract a person of Ed's caliber, reputation and knowledge," said Richard Dukas, president & CEO - (Click here for Richard's LinkedIn profile). "DPR has a strong track record of generating top-tier broadcast, print and on-line media coverage, and with Ed's expertise, we can now provide greater service offerings to our clients."

"Developing both corporate and IR practices is a natural progression for DPR. Our focus will be on doing the right communications -- meaning those that have a decided business purpose," commented Belak - (Click here for Ed's LinkedIn profile).

Prior to joining DPR, Belak held senior positions with Hill & Knowlton, where he was national head of the financial communications practice and on the U.S. management committee; Georgeson & Co., where he built the IR practice; and Morgen Walke (now part of Financial Dynamics) as co-head of their financial institutions group. He was also a private equity banker at Laidlaw & Co.

Belak has provided IR services to over 60 public companies during a 20-year career. His Fortune 1000 experience includes high-profile crises assignments, M&A, over three dozen IPOs, privatizations and several exchange listings. He also specializes in working with undervalued companies, designing and implementing results-oriented communications programs.

Belak is a former elected New Hampshire legislator, a graduate of Cornell University, and holds a Masters degree in journalism and marketing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
