Arbitron's Dr. Taymoor Arshi Wins 2009 Academy of Distinguished Engineers from Oregon State University

COLUMBIA, Md., April 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Arbitron Inc. (NYSE: ARB) announced today that Dr. Taymoor Arshi, Senior Vice President, Engineering and Chief Technology Officer, was selected to the 2009 Academy of Distinguished Engineers at Oregon State University

Membership in the Oregon State University Academy of Distinguished Engineers is awarded to mid-career Oregon State alumni who have sustained distinguished contributions to their profession, to their field, to Oregon State or to society at large. Members have at least 20 years of experience beyond receipt of their bachelor's degree and are active in their profession.

Dr. Arshi joined Arbitron in March 2008 and leads the company's global engineering team, which includes members in the United States, India and China. Taymoor received a master's degree in computer science from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and a doctorate in computer science from Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon.

Prior to joining Arbitron, Taymoor enjoyed a successful 22-year career at Intel, serving as Director of Engineering of several Intel divisions including the ProShare(TM) Video Conferencing Division, Peripherals Operation, Intel Online/Web Housing Services, and Telecom SW Operation. Taymoor also worked at Tektronix and served as an assistant professor at the University of California, Riverside, and Portland State University Dr. Arshi counts three U.S. patents among his accomplishments.
