California's San Luis Obispo County Visitors & Conference Bureau Launches Revitalized Organization & Strategic Marketing Plan

Search Begins For New Executive Director -- Application Deadline May 22

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., April 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The San Luis Obispo County Visitors and Conference Bureau (SLOCVCB), a leader in tourism marketing for over 22 years, will be launching a newly revitalized organization for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins on July 1. The Bureau will present an innovative strategic marketing plan, complete with new programs and services. In addition, the search has begun for a new Executive Director to implement the new plan and oversee the organization. Deadline for applications is May 22, 2009.

San Luis Obispo County, a premier vacation destination, is located halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, along California's scenic Central Coast. With a population of 265,000, spread out over 3,300 square miles, the destination is known for its dramatic ocean views, 80 miles of sandy beaches, scenic Highway 1, two historic Missions and the third largest wine country in the state. One of their most popular attractions is the magnificent Hearst Castle, a state historical monument known throughout the world for its glamour, elegance and authentic art collection.

The Bureau promotes the County as a major travel destination through advertising, marketing, group sales and public relations. They have over 500 members, representing all facets of the local tourism industry, including hotels, wineries, restaurants, golf courses and retail stores. In 2008, the Bureau won the prestigious award, "Best Marketing Campaign" from the California Travel and Tourism Commission.

Strategic New Marketing Plan

The newly created Marketing Plan will include a number of programs guaranteed to attract more visitors to the county. New initiatives include a complete redesign of their award-winning website, expansion of print advertising, Media Familiarization Tours, creation of maps and brochures for niche markets, creation of "Wine Month" and a pro-active effort to attract additional International business.

National Search for New Executive Director

The SLOCVCB has begun their search to find a new Executive Director. The Bureau seeks a dynamic, strategic, visionary leader who will champion and advocate tourism. Seven to ten years of experience in the destination marketing industry, in a senior leadership position, is preferred. Application deadline is May 22, 2009.
