Spiritual Leaders’ Teachings Collected in New Novel

April 28, 2009

A Memoir of a Man’s Journey and Lessons with Great Spiritual Leaders

SANTA ROSA, Calif., April 28 /PRNewswire/ — Author Mark Johnson, instructor of best-selling DVD, “Tai Chi For Seniors” and apprentice of some of the most prominent Vedanta, Zen and Daoist teachers in the world, has just released “Life is Divine Play” (published by iUniverse). “Life is Divine Play” is a memoir that shares Johnson’s forty-year spiritual path and his guidance for others to achieve a life of “Divine Play.”

“Life is Divine Play” follows Johnson’s journey from the United States to temples in China, an ashram in Florida in the 60′s, and finally California, where he apprenticed to a Daoist Wizard from China. Johnson not only reveals the profound and valuable concepts he learned from his mentors, he includes ways to apply his insights to everyday life situations in a humorous and playful manner. As Johnson shares the details from his incredible lifelong odyssey, he inspires and encourages others to seek a life of play where they, too, might find the same peace that he once sought and eventually found.

“In its highest expression, Divine Play is when one participates in the co-creation of the universe. Similar to a state of lucid dreaming, where the dreamer is aware he is dreaming and decides to have fun with the dream, a person in a state of co-creation experiences every action as being an effortless, natural response to every circumstance. Within that state, there eventually arises the realization that everyone and everything is oneself and that everything one does is done to oneself. That all-encompassing state of identity with the Other is the origin and foundation of love and compassion. When that realization becomes an abiding state, you are expressing yourself from the depth of your being.”
