UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation 'Taste for a Cure' Honors Twentieth Century Fox Television Chairmen Dana Walden and Gary Newman

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- The Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation at UCLA (JCCF) hosts its 14th annual Taste for a Cure, May 1, 2009 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. Twentieth Century Fox Television Chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden will receive the Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award, presented to them by Kiefer Sutherland. Event co-chairs are Barbara Fairchild, Editor-in-Chief, Bon Appetit Magazine; Jon Holman, President, The Holman Group; and Jay Sures, Partner and Board Member, United Talent Agency. Honorary Co-Chair is Peter Chernin, President and COO, News Corporation. Special guests include Dennis Haysbert, Seth MacFarlane, Scott Foley, and Seth Green. Special acoustic performance by Adam Levine and James Valentine of Maroon 5.

This year Taste for a Cure features the theme "The Great Wines of Oakville." Selected by Barbara Fairchild, award-winning chefs will prepare a sumptuous tasting menu paired with select wines from 30 wineries from the Oakville Winegrowers in Oakville, Napa Valley. Participating restaurants are XIV, CUT, The Bazaar, Pizzeria Mozza, Osteria Mozza, Border Grill and AK Restaurant + Bar.

Since 1996, the event has raised funds for highest priority cancer research at UCLA. Past honorees include Kevin Reilly, Andy Garcia, Edward James Olmos and Gil Nickel. The Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award was created in memory of Gil Nickel, proprietor of Far Niente, Nickel & Nickel and Dolce wineries, who lost a courageous battle against melanoma in October 2003. The Award honors key individuals for their humanitarian efforts, community involvement and commitment to philanthropy.
