May 1, 2009

NEW YORK, May 1 /PRNewswire/ — David J. Pecker, Chairman, President and CEO of American Media, Inc. (AMI) today announced that John Hughes has been named Executive Vice President/Business Development of Radar Online LLC. Radar Online LLC is a joint venture between AMI and Integrity Multimedia Company.

Radar Online LLC owns and operates RadarOnline.com, today’s fastest growing celebrity web site. Re-launched in March of 2009, the site has already attracted almost 3 million unique visitors thus far in April. Under the direction of David Perel, Radar Online Executive Vice President and Managing Editor, the site has broken many major celebrity news stories and its reporting is cited regularly on entertainment shows and web sites, as well as mainstream news outlets. As EVP, Mr. Hughes will have full responsibility for all day-to-day operations of Radar Online, including responsibility for driving business development, sales and marketing. Chief Revenue Officer Adam Gordon will report to Mr. Hughes. Mr. Hughes will report directly to Mr. Pecker, as does Mr. Perel.

“It’s great to have John back on board with us,” said Mr. Pecker. “We are already being inundated with proposals to migrate the Radar Online brand into television and John’s expertise at handling these types of negotiations will be invaluable. At the same time, his managerial abilities and his years of experience in this dynamic sector will accelerate Radar Online achieving its objectives.”

Mr. Hughes is a media industry veteran most recently applying cutting edge comparison rating technology to the web space as the co-founder of Clashware and developer of the Clashorama and Pollclash web sites. Prior to joining Radar Online, Mr. Hughes had worked for Mr. Pecker at American Media Inc. for six years as Senior Vice President for Business Affairs and Special Projects and at Hachette Filipacchi Media as Vice President of Entertainment Media. From 1994 to 1998, he served as Vice President of Business Affairs for Miramax Films. Mr. Hughes holds a BA in English from Boston University and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School in Boston. He is a member of Bars in New York and Massachusetts

“What the Radar Online web site has accomplished virtually overnight is incredible,” said Mr. Hughes, “and I am excited to be part of this venture. David Perel has done an exceptional job of distinguishing RadarOnline from the generally defined celebrity field by making it the #1 site for exclusive celebrity news and I think there are significant opportunities for the brand in broadcast media and as the celebrity news provider for a top portal. I intend to pursue both of these vigorously in the coming weeks, as well as others that will optimize the potential of the RadarOnline brand.”

Mr. Perel added, “John’s unique background in traditional and new media fits perfectly with where I see us heading in the coming months. I look forward to working closely with him in building the Radar Online brand.”

Mr. Hughes will be based in Radar Online’s New York City offices at One Park Ave.
