Quepasa Launches in Brazil Where Over 80% of Computer Users Over Age 15 Participate in Social Networking

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., May 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Quepasa.com (www.quepasa.com), is once again raising the bar as it becomes the first U.S.-based social networking site targeting Latinos to expand its reach into Latin America with a site launch in Brazil, where 85 percent of Brazilians ages 15 and older visit a social networking site, according to ComScore (September, 2008).

“Quepasa’s focus of combining entertainment content with social media tools should make our site attractive to Brazilians. Our Playboy Mexico and Dr. Rey Health & Beauty communities and contests have already proven to be incredibly popular with our Brazilian members,” said Quepasa CEO, John C. Abbott.

Quepasa called on one of the world’s most popular Brazilians, Dr. Robert Rey from the hit E! Network show “Dr. 90210,” to promote the site launch at a live event in Sao Paulo and via an online contest, where participants are prompted to express their own definition of beauty. One winner will win a free trip for two to Los Angeles to meet Dr. Rey and receive a personal consultation. In addition, nine runner-ups will receive products from Dr. Rey’s Sensual Solutions cosmetic line. Since the contest launch on April 5th, there have been over 2,400 submissions.

A growing percentage of Quepasa’s traffic is now originating in Brazil. During the week of April 24th to April 30th, Brazil accounted for 17% of Quepasa’s 120,000 new registered users.

Quepasa’s target audience in Brazil is comprised of young adults between 18 and 24 who are interested in entertainment, travel, and nightclubs. This age group spends an average of 19.3 hours a week on the Internet, double the amount of time they spend watching TV, according to Deloitte’s Counseling Research on Media Consumption Behavior, making Quepasa an ideal fit for brands that want a direct and effective medium to reach this target audience and the reason why companies such as Pacha, Playboy Mexico and even celebrities like Dr. Robert Rey and the comedian Diogo Portugal have already formed partnerships with Quepasa.

Quepasa’s unique, trilingual social networking community provides its millions of members with the latest viral and social networking tools including interactive, multi-media, and over 4,000 user-generated communities.
