18,000 attend Pete Seeger concert in NYC

More than 18,000 people turned out for a New York concert celebrating Pete Seeger's 90th birthday.

The Sunday show doubled as a fundraiser for Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, a non-profit group Seeger founded to preserve the Hudson, USA Today said.

Among musicians who performed were Seeger, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Morello, Taj Mahal, Joan Baez, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Emmylou Harris, Teddy Thompson, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Kate's children Rufus and Martha Wainwright, the New York City Labor Chorus, Kris Kristofferson, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Richie Havens and Warren Haynes.

Normally, I'm against big things, USA Today quoted Seeger as saying backstage. I think the world's going to be solved by millions of small things. ... (But,) needless to say, I'm very honored.
