A number of Broadway celebrities will attend the event, including Drama Desk Award nominee Megan Hilty, currently starring in the Broadway musical "9 to 5" in the role created by Dolly Parton in the film; Henry Hodges, who was featured in three Broadway shows last season, "Mary Poppins," "Macbeth" and "13"; and two of the popular puppet characters from Broadway's long-running hit "Avenue Q" - Trekkie Monster and Kate Monster. Noted radio deejay Johnny Rocks (who else, considering the event!) will emcee the Pet Rock(R) Scavenger Hunt. Other celebrities are expected as well. The event will also mark the debut of two Pet Rock(R) Character puppets that will become part of the team promoting the new craze.

Several hundred Pet Rock(R) characters will be scattered in the Hunt area, including two "Endangered" and "Extinct" Pet Rocks(R) whose collectible value will increase over the years since they will not be sold in retail stores and will only be available on the official Pet Rocks(R) website (www.petrockpals.com) as contest prizes.

Although they can keep as many Pet Rock(R) characters as they locate, Scavenger Hunters must bring each Pet Rock(R) -- as they find it -- to the Registration Table where every rock will receive its own Secret Identification Number that can later be registered on the Pet Rocks(R) website to enter to win one of the extra valuable "Extinct" or "Endangered" Pet Rocks(R).

The initial series of 12 Pet Rock(R) characters was introduced on March 1, 2009, in partnership with Children Affected by AIDS Foundation (CAAF). Sales benefit CAAF and thousands of children and families affected by AIDS in the US, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Pet Rocks(R) are currently available only at Toys"R"Us stores everywhere.

They come in different character shapes, forms and colors, and each has been given its own name and personality: Avalanche (Pig), Boulder (Cow), Chip (Rat), Fracture (Cat), Granite (Zebra), Hard Luck (Elephant), Mica (Parrot), Pebbles (Dog), Rocky (Rabbit), Roller (Monkey), Stink (Skunk) and Stoner (Duck). Two additional "Endangered" and "Extinct" Pet Rock(R) characters -- a Bobcat and a Dodo Bird -- have been manufactured in limited quantities and are only available as prizes on the official Pet Rocks(R) website.

In the early fall, I-Star will introduce an additional 24 Pet Rock(R) characters which will be sold in major toy stores, hobby shops and mass retail stores nationwide. When the new Pet Rocks(R) are released, production will stop on the original dozen whose molds will then be retired to the I-Star vault. produced to replace the existing "Endangered" and "Extinct" characters which will be retired.

Absent from hobby shops and toy stores for more than three decades, veteran toy industry executive Marty Abrams, CEO of I-Star Entertainment, says his team of researchers and trend predictors came across evidence more than a year ago that the once popular and highly coveted PET ROCKS(R) had not disappeared from the face of the earth, as initially suspected, but had somehow survived under the earth's surface.

Whereas the original PET ROCKS(R) came in one form -- a nondescript shapeless gray "rock" -- the new PET ROCKS(R) characters have distinctively different 21st century forms and characteristics, yet still retain the same warm and fuzzy qualities that endeared them to millions of young boys and girls (now grown with children of their own) who collected and cherished their PET ROCKS(R) during their impressionable "coming of age" years in the 1970's.

Each PET ROCK(R) Character already has its own Facebook page with individual characteristics. To find out more about these adorable creatures, visit the official PET ROCKS(R) Facebook website at www.facebook.com and then in the Search Box, enter the words: I-Star Pet Rocks.
