"We are thrilled to honor Mark with this award," said John Power, executive director of The Volunteer Center of San Francisco and San Mateo Counties. "Mark embodies our mission, which is to foster strong connections between the nonprofit community, business sector and ordinary citizens to improve local communities. Using Deloitte's skills-based volunteerism approach, Mark effectively applies his business acumen to the benefit of nonprofits and encourages other business leaders to do the same. Mark is a true advocate to Bay Area nonprofits, particularly those that serve the needs of youth, minority and under-served communities."

Mark has served the nonprofit community for more than 20 years through hands on volunteering as well as pro bono and board service. He currently serves on the boards of the Positive Coaching Alliance, Bay Area Council and Larkin Street Youth Services. He has also served on the board of the California Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Bay Area's 2007 Campaign Leadership Council.

Sherilyn Adams, Executive Director of Larkin Street Youth Services, said, "Mark has genuine compassion for underprivileged and homeless youth. He joined our board in 2007 and immediately began to contribute new ideas and shore up the resources of Deloitte to support us in a variety of ways. Mark's incredibly focused energy, positive and inspiring outlook and strategic insights have had a positive impact on Larkin Street and San Francisco's homeless youth."

Jim Thompson, founder and executive director of Positive Coaching Alliance said, "This award fits Mark Edmunds perfectly because he is indeed a champion of making this a better world. He has championed Positive Coaching in youth sports and in the workplace. PCA is better equipped to achieve our mission of using sports to build character in youth athletes because of his friendship and support."

As Deloitte's northern pacific regional managing partner, Mark has led Deloitte's regional employee volunteer programs to receive numerous awards. Recent local awards include: the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce 2006 "Excellence in Business" award; San Francisco Business Times Corporate Philanthropy Awards (2006, 2007, and 2008); the 2007 United Way of Bay Area's "Corporate Engagement Leadership" and 2008 "Innovative Partnerships" awards.
