Rhodes Cross-Platform Smartphone Development Framework Nominated as Best of Interop for Wireless and Mobility

CUPERTINO, Calif., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Rhomobile today announced that it is a finalist in the Best of Interop 2009 Awards for Wireless and Mobility. The company's flagship product, Rhodes, is the first open source framework for building native applications more efficiently and for all smartphone operating systems. It allows developers to write an application once and automatically build native applications for all smartphones including iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Android. With Rhodes, development cost is typically 20 percent of the cost of writing to the native device SDK directly, for just one device operating system. Releases on additional platforms bring almost no incremental development cost.

The Best of Interop Awards recognize companies that have made significant technological advancements in specific category areas. Winners represent the products that the judges believe have the most significant technical impact on their segment and are helping to move business technology forward. The awards will be presented on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Interop Las Vegas, North America's largest and most comprehensive business technology event.

"We created the Rhodes smartphone development framework to allow the enterprise to quickly enable their mobile workforce without having to limit efforts to a single smartphone OS or worry about diverse programming languages," said Adam Blum, CEO of Rhomobile. "It is a great honor that the Rhodes framework has been nominated for this prestigious award."

While enabling development of true native apps for all smartphones, Rhodes allows developers to code their interface in HTML instead of diverse and complex native device operating system languages. Rhodes reduces development costs by up to five times and eliminates the need to develop specific applications for each mobile OS. Rhodes' unique framework allows for creation of robust mobile applications that can take full advantage of smartphone capabilities such as GPS, PIM contacts and camera. Rhodes is ideal for mobile applications that require interaction with hosted enterprise application (SaaS) backends such as CRM and ERP, and allows the user to work offline with synchronized local data.
