~A First for the City, Free Bus Rides are Cricket’s Way of Saying Thank You for a Great First Year~

LAS VEGAS, May 7 /PRNewswire/ – Who says there is no such thing as a free ride? On Wednesday, May 20, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. city residents will be treated to free bus rides on the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada’s (RTC) valley-wide transit system, courtesy of Cricket Communications, Inc, a leading provider of unlimited wireless services. This will mark the first time a local business has funded complimentary bus rides for city residents on all routes throughout Southern Nevada, and will mark Cricket’s one-year anniversary in Las Vegas. Cricket, the fastest growing wireless company in Las Vegas, is offering residents a chance to save a little cash and travel on an environmentally-conscious transportation option anywhere within the city completely free of charge, as a thank you to the community for a great first year.

Additionally, Cricket has chosen three local bus shelters to turn into “green party” locations the morning of May 20. The bus shelters, located at Maryland Parkway and Tropicana Avenue, Charleston Boulevard and Eastern Avenue and Flamingo Road and Wynn Road, will be transformed into a celebration that will include giveaways, complimentary donuts and beverages. Visitors will have a chance to win the following prizes:

  • One person will receive a Motorola Hint with one-year of free Cricket Wireless service
  • Three people will receive Cricket phones with three months of free Cricket Wireless service
  • 100 people will receive coupons for $20 off a Cricket phone
  • 1,000 people will receive coupons for free ringtones

Cricket will also turn one special bus into the Cricket party bus for the morning of May 20. The bus will be completely wrapped in Cricket decor and the lucky riders on this bus will have a chance to win the above prizes, as well as Cricket t-shirts, Cricket backpacks and Cricket coffee tumblers.

“We felt with the current economic downturn that Las Vegans could use a helping hand and decided to provide free bus rides to the entire city on May 20,” said Jason Biado, area general manager for Cricket Communications. “Cricket wanted to find a special way to thank Las Vegas residents for a great first year of successful business in Las Vegas. Cricket knows that without the community’s support we would not have had such an amazing year. For this reason, we felt that it was important to give back to the local community where our customers and employees live and work.”
