‘Carnage,’ ‘Ruined’ named best new plays

The Outer Critics Circle bestowed its award for outstanding new Broadway play to God of Carnage Monday in New York.


The play about two sets of parents brought together because of a spat between their children also earned co-star Marcia Gay Harden the prize for outstanding actress in a play.


The Norman Conquests won the awards for outstanding revival of a play and outstanding ensemble, and its director Matthew Warchus picked up the outstanding director of a play honor.


Ruined earned the title of outstanding new off-Broadway play, Geoffrey Rush the award for outstanding actor in a play for Exit the King, Angela Lansbury the honor of outstanding featured actress in a play for Blithe Spirit and David Pearse the trophy for featured actor in a play for The Cripple of Inishmaan.
