New Wake Nation Water-Sports Complex Opens in Cincinnati

May 12, 2009

It’s the only one like it in the Midwest … and Ohio’s got it!

CINCINNATI, May 12 /PRNewswire/ — It’s called Wake Nation Cincinnati and it is the first and only cable wake park in the Buckeye state – in fact, there are only six other cable wakeboarding parks in the entire USA (mostly in Florida and Texas.)

What makes the experience at Wake Nation so unique is that participants can wakeboard, water ski, and kneeboard WITHOUT A BOAT! Instead, they are pulled around a 10-acre lake at speeds of 18-20 miles per hour by a circulating cable system that runs 35 feet above the water.

Wakeboarding is already the country’s fastest growing water sport and this new approach is sure to attract those without access to their own boats.

Wake Nation was designed from the ground up to provide the ultimate ride experience to both first timers and experienced boarders, says CEO Peter Kennedy. “Beginners love that wakeboarding at Wake Nation is fun, easy to learn, and allows everyone to progress at their own pace. Advanced riders love that they can amp up the adrenaline by doing air tricks they can’t behind a boat and by boarding off floating jumps and obstacles.” Riders can bring their own gear or rent any and all equipment they need at the park.

Wake Nation is now open and will operate daily all summer long from 10 a.m. to dark seven days a week through October. A Grand Opening celebration featuring the world’s top professional riders is set for Tuesday, June 2.

Wake Nation is a “pay-as-you-play” facility. Parking and admission to the water sports complex are FREE, including access to an outdoor 3,000 square foot observation deck that offers a panoramic view of the entire lake area. And, until July 3, riders can get their first hour of ride time FREE (a $20 value.) To receive the first hour of ride time at no charge, visitors must bring a coupon, which can be printed out from the Wake Nation website at www.wakenation.com.

Cable passes are available in one hour ($20), two hour ($25), four hour ($30) and all-day ($35) increments.

Wake Nation is located at 201 Joe Nuxhall Way in Cincinnati’s northern suburb of Fairfield.
