WASHINGTON, May 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hudson Institute is pleased to welcome national-security expert Gabriel Schoenfeld as a Senior Fellow. At Hudson, Dr. Schoenfeld is working on a book about the problem of secrecy in our democratic society that W.W. Norton will be bringing out in the spring of 2010 under the title, Necessary Secrets: National Security, the Media, and the Rule of Law. He will also continue to write widely on intelligence and defense policy.

Dr. Schoenfeld has published numerous articles, op-eds, and book reviews in leading newspapers and magazines, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Commentary, the Weekly Standard, the Atlantic, the National Interest, and the New Republic. Dr. Schoenfeld's previous book, The Return of Anti-Semitism, was published by Encounter in 2004. He has also appeared as a guest commentator on major broadcast and cable television networks, including ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX, and abroad on NHK (Japan) and CBC (Canada).

"Gabe Schoenfeld is both a noted writer and a far-sighted policy analyst," says Hudson CEO Kenneth Weinstein. "He's a great addition to the distinguished group of foreign-policy scholars at Hudson." Dr. Schoenfeld, for his part, has expressed "unreserved delight at joining Hudson, an institution with a storied past that is today an unsurpassed repository of leading thinkers about the critical issues confronting our country."

From 1994 to 2008, Dr. Schoenfeld was senior editor of Commentary. He retains an active affiliation as a Resident Scholar at the Witherspoon Institute in Princeton, New Jersey. Before joining Commentary in 1994, Dr. Schoenfeld was a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, where he founded the research bulletin Post-Soviet Prospects. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard University.

Hudson Institute is a nonpartisan policy research organization dedicated to innovative research and analysis that promotes global security, prosperity, and freedom.
