Mammut Shoe Chase Launches Summer 09 Shoe Line With Geo-Caching Contest Across North America

BURLINGTON, Vt., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Mammut Sports Group USA, providers of Swiss quality alpine gear and apparel, recently announced The Mammut Shoe Chase, a summer-long geo-caching contest to promote their recently launched Spring 2009 line of footwear. Shoes from Mammut's new multi-sport and hiking line will be stashed across North America for anyone to find. The contest begins immediately, and will run through September 15, 2009.

The Mammut Shoe Chase will lead participants to various alpine, backpacking, urban and dealer locations, where sponsored athletes and other Mammut representatives have hidden the caches. Of their many new styles, Mammut will focus on the launch of the multi-functional Obelisk DLX, the Granite hiking boot, and the backpacking-inspired Mountain Crest LTH, and women's Mount Vista, which will be hidden at locations ranging from easier-to-access urban settings to more challenging alpine environments.

Participants will use navigation skills and geo-caching techniques to locate the caches, based on coordinates listed on Mammut.ch/basecamp. If a participant is the first to locate a cache, they instantly win the pair of Mammut shoes at that location.

As each cache has points associated with it, all participants will be eligible for a grand prize at the end of the contest. Participants record their findings in an online logbook, accruing the "points" found within each cache.

Points will be awarded based on speed, difficulty and number of caches found, with participant with the most points winning the grand prize- head-to-toe Mammut gear, and a guided excursion with Mammut's premier athlete Stephan Siegrist.
