‘Terminator’ has $3M midnight debut

Terminator Salvation earned $3 million at the U.S. box office during Thursday midnight screenings, Warner Bros. said.

The studio did not indicate how many theaters held 12:01 a.m. showings of the fourth installment in the Terminator

film franchise, Variety.com said.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine grossed nearly $5 million in midnight engagements May 1 and Watchmen grossed $4.6 million at late-night screenings in March.

The entertainment industry trade newspaper said both Terminator and the new family flick Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian are expected to rack up more than $50 million during the Memorial Day weekend.
