RIO DE JANEIRO, May 27 /PRNewswire/ — Zeebo, Inc. announced today that its 3G wireless videogame console has shipped for targeted retail distribution in Brazil. The Zeebo console will be available this week in more than 200 retail locations throughout Rio de Janeiro, before broader distribution throughout Brazil later this year. The console ships with three pre-embedded games and provides users the ability to download three additional titles at no charge. More than 15 titles are expected to be available for download on the console by the end of June. The Zeebo console will be available for a suggested retail price of USD $249 ($499 Brazilian Reais) – nearly one-third the price of mainstream leading consoles sold in Brazil.

“Zeebo is the first videogame console to launch exclusively in Brazil and offer games wirelessly, with no packaged discs and no internet or wireless service plans required,” said Fernando Fischer, CEO, Tectoy. Tectoy, known as the pioneer of digital gaming in Brazil, is distributing and marketing the Zeebo console in Brazil. “Zeebo is simple to use and is sold with six free games, delivering an incredibly fun experience right out of the box and for years to come,” added Fischer.

“Brazil is a videogame savvy marketplace and is the perfect place to launch the Zeebo videogame console and its completely wireless distribution system,” said John F. Rizzo, CEO, Zeebo. “The system provides an intuitive, quick, and easy-to-use home shopping user experience featuring popular, culturally optimized content from leading game publishers and developers around the world. It also delivers high value and warranty protection compared to gray-market.”

The Zeebo console comes ready to plug into a TV and play, right out of the box. Users can shop securely and buy localized, culturally-relevant games and content without leaving their home. Zeebo delivers 3D graphics and great game play to consumers throughout Brazil, providing a true home console experience, including 640 x 480 screen resolution, a full-featured game controller, multiplayer capability and expansion ports for additional options. The Zeebo comes with three pre-installed games: Electronic Arts’s FIFA 2009 and Need For Speed Carbon, Gameloft’s Brain Challenge; and three additional titles are available via free download: 3D Realms/Machineworks Prey Evil and Id Software’s Quake I and Quake II. All titles are localized in Portuguese. Connection to ZeeboNet for the secure purchase of games and content is simple and no wireless or internet service plan is required.
