NAM releases new poll on growth of ethnic media, highlights award winning reporting in the ethnic media and unveils new emergency communications system

WHAT:

NAM holds its National Ethnic Media Expo & Awards. The two-day event will feature the NAM National Ethnic Media Awards, the unveiling of NAM's state-of-the-art emergency risk communication system, a discussion of NAM's historic poll of immigrant women, the release of a new poll on the growth of ethnic media and a myriad opportunities for professional development training, networking, and more.

MAJOR EVENTS:

Thursday, June 4, 10 AM (Dunwoody Room) NAM Hotline for Emergency Messaging. A state of the art system will be announced that uses the ethnic media to bring urgent health and emergency alerts, as well as consumer product information and public policy statements to ethnic communities.

Thursday, June 4, 12:30 (Regency VI Room) US Census 2010 Meets the Ethnic Media of Georgia. A roundtable exchange with Census officials and ethnic media leaders on how to ensure a complete count.

Thursday, June 4, 6 PM (Centennial I/II Room) NAM and UGA Grady School of Journalism host NAM National Awards Banquet. The event will honor outstanding reporting by the ethnic media.

Friday, June 5, 9 AM (Learning Center) Opening Plenary Session. A new poll on ethnic media growth will be released and panelists will discuss relevance of ethnic media in communicating with the new America.

Friday, June 5, 11:30 AM (Centennial II/III Rooms) Ethnic Media Luncheon Exhibit, awards for best pitch and luncheon keynote on the future of news by author/essayist Richard Rodriguez.
