Thornton’s daughter charged in baby death

The daughter from whom actor and musician Billy Bob Thornton says he has long been estranged was arrested in Florida in connection with a baby’s death.

Officer Lee Stevens of the Ocoee police department told CNN Amanda Brumfield, 29, was arrested last Friday on child neglect charges after the infant she was watching fell and subsequently died.

The news outlet said no other details were immediately available.

Thornton’s publicist, Arnold Robinson, said the actor has had no contact with (his daughter) for quite some time.

When informed about this situation, (Thornton) commented that, ‘Anytime a baby’s life is lost is an unimaginable tragedy and my heart goes out to the baby’s family and loved ones,’ Robinson told CNN in a written statement.

Thornton, 53, has been married and divorced five times and is the father of four children. He is best known for his Oscar-winning film Sling Blade, which he starred in, wrote and directed.
