OAKS, Pa., June 1 /PRNewswire/ – The following press statement was issued by Comcast of West Virginia and can be attributed to David Breidinger, Comcast Cable Eastern Division Senior Vice President of

Government & Regulatory Affairs:

“Comcast Cable of West Virginia wishes to thank Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, Governor Joseph Manchin III and the esteemed members of the West Virginia Legislature, who took time from their hectic schedules to engage in open dialogue and conversations to find a productive solution to ensure continued access of West Virginia Public Broadcasting programming for Comcast customers throughout the state. These individuals demonstrated a true commitment to engaging in the complex public policy issues surrounding the agreement, and we are grateful for their enthusiasm and the energy they devoted to finding an appropriate long-term solution.

Any Comcast customer in the Morgantown area and the Northern and Eastern panhandles with a digital cable box should already be receiving WV PBS and does not need to take any action. Customers with basic service do not need to change their level of service, but should call Comcast at 1-800-COMCAST to get a free digital box so they too can enjoy WV PBS in its usual channel location, along with more PBS programming including WV PBS in HD and a second WV PBS channel. Comcast will ensure these customers receive this box at no additional charge for at least a year, and will extend a similar promotional offer next spring to assist customers who still need the digital box to view WV PBS’ outstanding programming.”
