Roundhouse Interactive and Frima Studio Partner to Build First User-Developed Console Game

Posted on: Thursday, 4 June 2009, 09:00 CDT

LOS ANGELES, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- E3 -- Frima Studio has been selected as the programming partner for The Game Cartel, as it develops the industry's first player-conceived console video game. Taking its inspiration from online games, The Game Cartel lets members conceive, develop and vote on the creation of what will eventually be commercially-available console games. Like the fan fiction-based Star Trek film, this is a historic first in the industry and will certainly lead to a more constructive and creative dialog between gamers and developers. The game which Frima Studio will be programming is still in the development stages, but members and customers have settled on first/third person shooter format.

"We are very excited to play a part in this revolutionary game development process," says Frima's CEO, Steve Couture.

"Frima is a leading edge independent video game studio that is focused on building true next-generation game experiences. This partnership is a perfect fit for both organizations," says Mike Montanaro President of Roundhouse Interactive Inc.

To be part of this unique experience, visit www.TheGameCartel.com. More than 13,000 people have already signed up during the pre-release phase to help participate in building this game, which will employ several celebrities, including former WWE wrestling superstar Trish Stratus. The actual voting will begin in early July and run most of the year, as users piece together the platform, story line and other elements for the game, which will go on sale in time for the 2010 Christmas buying season.
