British rocker Pete Doherty was detained at Geneva Airport and fined for allegedly using drugs on a British Airways flight, police said.
Swiss police told Sky News the 30-year-old Babyshambles singer was met by officers when his plane landed in Geneva last Thursday. Doherty, who has had numerous brushes with the law and trips to rehab to battle drug addiction in recent years, was ordered to pay a fine before he was released from police custody.
A British Airways spokeswoman declined to comment on reports Doherty had been discovered slumped in a plane bathroom with a hypodermic needle, Sky News said.
The amount of the penalty he was ordered to pay was not reported.
