HDNet to debut Lynch’s latest

June 15, 2009

HDNet Movies said Monday it plans to offer a special sneak preview of the David Lynch-produced thriller Surveillance before its U.S. theatrical release.

Lynch’s daughter Jennifer directed it and co-wrote it with Kent Harper. She previously wrote and directed the cult classic film Boxing Helena.

David Lynch’s body of work includes the movies Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Lost Highway and Mulholland Drive, as well as the quirky TV series Twin Peaks.”

Starring Bill Pullman and Julia Ormond as federal officers attempting to solve a series of vicious slayings, Surveillance is to premiere on HDNet June 24, ahead of its planned June 26 limited U.S. theatrical release.

Richard Corliss of TIME described the film by saying: Think ‘Rashomon’ meets ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ in ‘Twin Peaks’ … and you may get on the warped wavelength of this semi-comic parable of social anarchy.
