Kelly Preston to play Miley’s mom in film

Kelly Preston, who has been mourning the death of her 16-year-old son since January, has signed on to play Miley Cyrus’s mom in the U.S. film The Last Song.
Jett Travolta, Kelly Preston’s son with her husband, actor John Travolta, died of a seizure disorder during a family holiday in the Bahamas. The celebrity couple have not made many public appearances since.
The Hollywood Reporter said the actress and Greg Kinnear have been cast as the estranged parents of Cyrus’s character in the big-screen adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’s novel, which started shooting this week in Georgia.
John Travolta and Cyrus previously lent their voices to animated characters in the movie Bolt.
