‘Wheels’ combines celebs, disabled dancers

The BBC's new series Strictly Come Dancing on Wheels will combine celebrities with disabled dancers in wheelchairs, an official for the British network says.

BBC3 official Danny Cohen said among the celebrities lined up for the provisionally titled new series are singer Heather Small and Olympic swimmer Mark Foster, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

This is a really important project for us. The series will be surprising, fun and glamorous, Cohen said.

Participating celebrities will each be paired with a wheelchair-bound contestant and the dancing pairs will spend five weeks training for the TV series.

A panel of judges will then thin out the contestants each week until one duo is named Wheels champion.

The Telegraph said the winning pair will go on to represent Britain in the Wheelchair Dance Sport European Championships, which is to take place this October in Israel.
