Light Reading's xTCA Ecosystems Conference to Collocate at the Embedded Systems Conference '09 in Boston

Posted on: Thursday, 25 June 2009, 13:39 CDT

NEW YORK, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Light Reading (www.lightreading.com), the leading integrated media company serving the worldwide communications industry, and Heavy Reading (www.heavyreading.com), its prestigious market research division, announced today that they will collocate their xTCA Ecosystems Conference at the Embedded Systems Conference in Boston on September 23, 2009. Both Light Reading and ESC Boston's parent, TechInsights, are divisions of United Business Media.

The xTCA Ecosystems Conference, hosted by industry expert Rob Davidson and Heavy Reading analyst Simon Stanley, and covering the components and business issues involved in delivering commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions for the converged IP network such as ATCA and MicoTCA, will also continue its partnership with six leading industry groups in the COTS space: CPTA, The Linux Foundation, OpenSAF, PICMG, SCOPE, and the Service Availability Forum.

This collocation was a natural fit, because ESC Boston, the major East Coast computer and communications systems show, did not have components and COTS programming formally integrated into its agenda. Running the xTCA Ecosystems Conference at ESC Boston exposes this communications industry business and technology content to a wider audience, as ESC Boston 2008 had 2,500 attendees of whom 31% were communications systems designers. Furthermore, sponsors of The xTCA Ecosystems Conference will have the added benefit of exhibiting on the ESC Boston show floor in the xTCA pavilion.

"Collocating at the Boston ESC Show puts our xTCA Conference on a much bigger stage, with ESC being the largest systems and components event on the East Coast," says Joe Braue, SVP and Group Director of Light Reading.

"Having the xTCA Conference at ESC Boston adds a powerful new component covering a dynamic and growing area of the systems and components industry," says David Blaza, Vice President of Events and Embedded Systems for TechInsights. "We're excited about expanding our conference coverage into this area and expect that it will positively impact the quality and quantity of our attendees."

Scheduled speakers will include Rob Davidson, who previously was a top executive at Intel's ATCA business as well as marketing director for PICMG, the leading ATCA industry group. Simon Stanley has written and consulted extensively on xTCA issues for Heavy Reading. xTCA Ecosystems Conference sponsors include Super Platinum sponsor RadiSys and Gold sponsor ENEA.

Projected attendance is between and 100 and 150. Sponsorship and speaking opportunities are still available. Contact events@lightreading.com for more information.
