Publicist: Jackson planned father-son show

Posted on: Friday, 3 July 2009, 12:47 CDT

A former publicist for Michael Jackson said the late U.S. singer had planned a duet performance in London with his son Prince.

Publicist Stuart Backerman said the Billie Jean singer wanted to share the stage with his 12-year-old son during his scheduled series of London concerts, Usmagazine.com reported online Thursday.

He was planning on doing a short duet with his son, Prince, Backerman said of Jackson, who died last Thursday. He knew his kids would enjoy it.

Prince and Jackson's other two children, Paris, 11, and Blanket, 7, were left in the custody of Jackson's mother Katherine in the pop star's will.

Meanwhile, AEG chief executive Randy Phillips told TMZ.com his company had a $17.5 million insurance policy for Jackson's 50 scheduled London performances. The Lloyd's of London policy does cover an overdose by the pop star, but not a death of natural causes.

IGN.com said, citing a report by The Hollywood Reporter, a movie could be made out of footage of Jackson preparing for the concerts. The footage's rights are owned by AEG Live.

E! Online said tickets for the canceled Jackson concerts in London are being sold as souvenirs of the Thriller star's famed career and life.
