Speculation still surrounds Jackson’s son

In the wake of Michael Jackson's death, speculation is percolating again about his youngest son's birth, Inside Edition reported Wednesday.

The birth certificate of Prince Michael Jackson II, called Blanket, lists Michael Joseph Jackson as the father, but does not list a mother.

Jackson has been quoted as saying he had a relationship with Blanket's mother but also that he used a surrogate whom he didn't know. He said she was African-American, but other reports say she is German or biracial.

The birth certificate says the child was born at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in San Diego and was delivered by Dr. Maria Castillo. Castillo's partner, fertility specialist Lila Schmidt, said the surrogate mother may not have been informed the baby was Blanket Jackson, but surely would realize it now from the birth certificate.

Experts say a surrogate under those circumstances would have no claim to custody of the child.
