Good... Better... BEST

Posted on: Monday, 13 July 2009, 11:37 CDT

CHICAGO, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Reliable old favorites are good. The new and revelatory can be better. But it takes a little more to be recognized as the absolute best of Chicago.

The August issue of Chicago magazine, which hits newsstands on Thursday, highlights 90 people, places, and goods worthy of a superlative in the annual Best of Chicago. If you're looking for the best tattoo artist, dog groomer, new boutique, or climbing wall, you'll find that and much more inside this year's collection of number ones. Come explore the best Chicago has to offer.

"In researching Best of Chicago, we sampled great food, met interesting people, and explored new places," says Richard Babcock, the editor of Chicago. "We've compared the merely great, and figured out which is really the best. Sometimes it's a newcomer, and sometimes it's the classic, still performing with quiet excellence."

This month's issue also features Numbers Man, a profile of Ron Huberman, the head of Chicago Public Schools. After three top city jobs, including a stint as the mayor's chief of staff, Huberman now brings his technocratic skills to improving public education. Find out how this ex-cop will bring this plan to fruition.

Elsewhere in the May issue of Chicago:

  • Jay Cutler: The new quarterback for the Bears has been hailed as a savior but also knocked for lacking maturity.
  • Deal Estate(R): House and condo news from the city and the suburbs.

Chicago editor Richard Babcock, managing editor Shane Tritsch, and other members of the magazine staff are available for on-air interviews about stories in the August issue. Contact Kate Mersman at 312-222-3165 to schedule an interview.
