New JCC at Milken Reopens Upgraded Pool, Welcomes Valley Community Sunday at Open House
WEST HILLS, Calif., July 16 /PRNewswire/ — After months of renovation and upgrades the JCC at Milken is poised to welcome back the community this Sunday, July 19 at the grand reopening of its junior Olympic-size pool and spa. A community celebration and open house are set for Sunday from 2-5 pm at the Bernard Milken Jewish Community Campus.
Members of the community will tour the new, refurbished facility, which boasts the recently retrofitted 75 foot by 45 foot indoor heated pool, state-of-the-art spa with its steam room, sauna and whirlpool, upgraded lockers and fitness center. An official poolside ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated for 3 pm and will include representatives of the collaboration that brought the pool back to the community, as well as elected officials.
The effort to reestablish the pool for the Valley community included the JCC at Milken, The JCC Development Corporation and The Jewish Federation, which supports the JCC at Milken.
“This has been a real team effort,” said Paul Frishman, JCC at Milken Executive Director. “The JCC leadership and the JCC Development Corporation and The Jewish Federation all worked very hard to make this re-opening a reality. What we’ve created is a low-cost, modern fitness alternative that will add serious value to JCC membership. Our hope is that this becomes the new center of the Valley Jewish life.”
Four-time Olympic gold medalist Lenny Krayzelburg will be on hand to celebrate the reopening of the pool. Krayzelburg will resume operation of his popular Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy at the site. Family-friendly activities, food, music and special programming will also be part of the festivities.
Sunday’s open house is at 22622 Vanowen Street, West Hills between Shoup and Fallbrook Avenues.
The JCC at Milken preserves and celebrates Jewish heritage by serving the physical, educational and spiritual needs of its members, the Jewish community and the community at large. The JCC receives funding from The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles and from The Jewish Federation Valley Alliance.
