Centerplate Adds Flavor to 2009 Cricket Wireless Triple-A All-Star Game at Portland's PGE Park

Posted on: Thursday, 16 July 2009, 10:30 CDT

STAMFORD, Conn., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Centerplate, the hospitality partner to North America's premier convention centers and sports stadiums, announced today it created Luxury Suite specialty menus and provided concessions for the 2009 Cricket Wireless Triple-A All-Star Game, which was held yesterday, July 15, 2009 at 7pm. Showcasing the talent of future major league baseball stars, the Triple-A All-Star Game attracted nearly 20,000 fans to Portland's PGE Park. As the hospitality partner to the venue, Centerplate developed menus incorporating locally-sourced ingredients for both the American Family Insurance Home Run Derby held on July 13 at 7pm and the Triple-A All Star Game.

As a collaboration between Centerplate's West coast regional executive chef Mike Almos and PGE Park's local executive chef Bob Brumbaugh, this year's Suite and hospitality menu showcased culinary offerings native to Portland and the greater Pacific Northwest. Among the gourmet selections developed for the Triple-A All-Star Game and the Home Run Derby were the Antipasto Platter consisting of local Oregon cheeses and organic pickled fruits and vegetables; the Northwest Harvest Salad topped with Oregon Bleu Cheese and a balsamic vinaigrette; the Local Fresh Seafood incorporating a saute of Dungeness crab, Oregon ling cod, bay scallops, Pacific rock shrimp and troll caught Coho Salmon; among other culinary delights. Fans strolling the concourse can choose from a bevy of regular ballpark delights including the signature "Big Foot" cheese steak, the Huckleberry Sundae and the Morrison Street Cafe's Salmon Cakes with lemon garlic caper aioli.

"We are delighted to have supported PGE Park in hosting the 80th Triple-A All Star Game this year. Only rivaled by the action on the field, our specialty menu offerings serve as another example of our dedication to delivering extraordinary fan experiences to premier events and venues," said Des Hague, CEO of Centerplate.

"We are honored to have hosted the 2009 Cricket Wireless Triple-A All Star Game. Thanks to Centerplate's commitment to great food and integrating local flavors, we look forward to delivering outstanding fan experiences in the seasons and years to come," said Merritt Paulson, owner of Shortstop, LLC, which owns the Portland Beavers and Portland Timbers.

Centerplate initiated its partnership with PGE Park in 2005, and in the last year the agreement was extended to run through 2016. Servicing venues across North America in such major markets as New York, San Francisco, Dallas, Denver, Orlando, Miami, Vancouver, Raleigh and Seattle, Centerplate is dedicated to creating extraordinary hospitality experiences for its guests while increasing returns for its clients. Today's announcement comes on the heels of last week's news that Centerplate received the 'best new idea' award from the Association of Luxury Suite Directors (ALSD) for its 2008 'Loft Menu' at the Arizona Cardinal's University of Phoenix stadium.
