Waggener Edstrom Worldwide Voted a Top Tech Communicator Agency By Information Technology Journalists

Posted on: Monday, 27 July 2009, 10:00 CDT

SAN FRANCISCO, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Global integrated communications agency Waggener Edstrom Worldwide (WE) has been selected as one of the Top Tech Communicator agencies through a study conducted by PRSourceCode, a content service provider specializing in technology-related public relations.

The 2009 Top Tech Communicator study involved an online survey in which journalists from more than 300 IT and business publications were asked to select the PR agencies, departments and professionals that add the most value to editorial processes, in terms of responsiveness, reliability and overall recognition of editorial needs. This year WE ranked No. 3 among large technology agencies, up from the fourth position last year.

The award highlights the growing impact WE's global Technology Practice is having as a key technology influencer in Silicon Valley. The practice, led by Michelle Herman, senior vice president, services a wide range of clients, with a sampling including BMC Software Inc., e-mail marketing services provider iPost and mobile game designer Namco Networks America Inc.

"We're proud to be recognized again as a Top Tech Communicator by PRSourceCode," Herman said. "The award reinforces the close relationship we maintain with the journalist and various IT influential communities that are driving and shaping audience perception across mobile devices and through social media technologies. As we help clients drive brand perception and build value for their customers, our partnerships with key influentials are crucial to our success."

San Francisco Bay Area native Herman, who recently assumed the role of Technology Practice lead, is positioning the practice for growth in the region and worldwide. Her new role and knowledge of the shifting communications landscape in the Bay Area give WE's Technology Practice a strategic advantage.

WE's Technology Practice offers clients a hybrid PR model of boutique-level service backed by large-agency resources. Offerings include integrated communications, digital strategies, strategic positioning, media engagement and brand perception management. Herman aims to deepen WE's influence even further within the realm of technology innovation and help redefine what technology PR means today.

"The world of tech PR is changing as we speak," Herman said. "Not only do companies and organizations require nimble PR partners who are able to build the right reputation in these changing times, but they also demand expertise that goes beyond traditional media knowledge and writing capabilities. WE's Technology Practice is experienced in everything from corporate positioning, digital and social media storytelling, and integrated influence all the way to demand generation. Our agility and breadth of skill are what set us apart. With the Technology Practice now headquartered in San Francisco, WE's strategic approach to technology PR and keen grasp of today's business environment make us a communications partner for companies and organizations of all sizes."

The WE Technology Practice regularly consults with the agency's five other global practices: Consumer Marketing, Global Corporate Communications, Healthcare, Public Affairs and WE Social Innovation to provide integrated communication counsel for their clients. In addition, it works in tandem with the agency's digital group, WE Studio D(TM), using innovative digital tools to offer solutions to the challenges clients face in the shifting communications landscape.
