Chicago Tribune Foundation Announces Grants of $85,000 to Chicagoland Organizations That Support Cultural Organizations

CHICAGO, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicago Tribune Foundation announced that 20 nonprofit organizations committed to cultural development in the Chicagoland area will receive grants totaling $85,000.
The grants support cultural organizations within the Chicago metropolitan area that provide educational programs in the arts for children from low-income communities or that foster diverse art.
"The chance to make a difference in the lives of children from low-income communities by contributing to their learning through the arts is gratifying and important to our company," said Jan Woelffer, Chicago Tribune Grant and Charitable Program Specialist. "Art elevates a community's standard of living and the Chicago Tribune Foundation is proud to be a part of this initiative."
The following cultural programs received grants totaling $85,000. The organizations fit within program areas that:
Provide a writing and/or reading program as part of arts education
- 826CHI
- Chicago Theatre Group (Goodman Theatre)
- Literature for All of Us
- Maywood Fine Arts Association
- Pegasus Players
- The Poetry Center of Chicago
- Young Chicago Authors
Provide excellence in musical or choral training for budding young artists
- The Fox Valley Academy of Music Performance
- People's Music School
Utilize the arts for educational enhancement for in-school curriculums or after-school arts programs
- Beverly Arts Center
- Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education
- Raue Center for the Arts
- Silk Road Theatre Project
Provide arts programs through in-school or after-school programs
- Black Ensemble Theater
- Chicago Human Rhythm Project
- Graffiti Zone
- Old Town School of Folk Music
Reach children with disabilities and families who are bilingual or low-income
- DuPage Children's Museum
Foster diversity in participation of the arts
- Chicago Sinfonietta
- Chinese Fine Arts Society
