Gran Caribe Real Resort in Cancun is Open for Business with All Amenities & Guest Services in Full Operation

CANCUN, Mexico, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ — Real Resorts, the owners and managers of The Gran Caribe Real Resort in Cancun, says the resort is completely functioning and guests have access to all amenities and services including the beach. The report comes following an incident on Thursday in which a portion of the beach was closed by Mexican officials over a dispute about sand relocation. The Gran Caribe Real Resort has been involved in a beach restoration program since 2005 when Hurricane Wilma wiped out most of Cancun and severely damaged the beaches. The Gran Caribe Real Resort was one of the first properties to reopen and protected its investment with the construction of a temporary retaining wall until the national beach restoration program could begin.

An agreement was recently reached between all the beachfront hotels, the Mexican government and Profepa (the agency that monitors the environment) for a plan of action to formally restore the beaches. According to the Governor of the State of Quintana Roo, and the Minister of Tourism of Mexico the beach recovery program for the entire area is set to get underway this September.
