BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Summa Children's Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives and communities of underprivileged Los Angeles children, announced today it has partnered with The Major League Player's Trust and CAA Sports for its 2009 Buses for Baseball program. Fifty kids from A Better LA, a South Los Angeles-targeted non-profit organization co-founded by Pete Carroll, will be treated to a host of on-field activities prior to the start of the game featuring The Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, August 18th. Provided with T-shirts and goodie bags, the kids will be escorted to the field to experience batting practice up close and personal while taking pictures and getting autographs with their favorite Dodger and Cardinal stars. The kids will then be escorted to their seats to enjoy Dodger Dogs and other favorite Dodger Stadium treats.
"We are pleased to partner with CAA Sports for this spectacular event," commented Summa Children's Foundation founders Brian Werdesheim and Jim Miles. "Through their philanthropic and community efforts, both CAA and their client, Los Angeles Dodger Andre Ethier, have worked with A Better LA, so it was a natural fit."
"Our relationship with Major League Baseball continues to be an important part of the work we do in Los Angeles," says Brian Werdesheim and Jim Miles. "This year's experience and the inclusion of CAA Sports and A Better LA brings our reach even farther than before as we continue to increase participation in Los Angeles."
Brian Werdesheim and Jim Miles, Co-Chairmen of the Summa Children's Foundation, also have high hopes for the day. "Every year we watch as the player's take these kids on an amazing journey. We are proud to be an active part of Major League Baseball."
